Trace just has a way with the guitar that I haven't heard before. I own his previous two albums, and I'm still picking my jaw up off the floor. Then, he come out with this gem and knocks me on my a**.
  • Best album since Adapt

I have been following Trace since the "Adapt" album and am a big fan. I was a little disappointed at the "Missile Bell" CD, as I thought it had too much violin that often overpowered the guitar, but I am really happy with "Elephant King", as it has lost most of the accompanying instruments in favor of some softer background percussion akin to the Adapt recording. The songs are all really good and show a growth from Trace's earlier recordings, where there was a heavy emphasis on simple bass lines, to this most recent recording, where there is more of an emphasis on the melody. Overall, a great album. Good job Trace!

This guys is awesome. I love seeing him live he's awesome. He is an amazing entertainer and a real down to earth guy. "doesn't work for the man." His humility in his work is also pretty awesome. He is the best guitar player I've witnessed and yet he doesn't flaunt it. Check the next time he's in your area and go to his concert. His shows are the best concerts I've been to.

Trace has finally come out with something new and it does not disappoint! You have to see him live to fully appreciate his music (which you can "feel" better when hearing it live), to fully understand his technical ability, and to admire his wit and humility. He has the best live show that I've seen of anyone in the genre. In fact, you can't really box Trace's music at all, it hard to describe and very distinct and original. This album shows incredible growth and compositional quality, something that (at least in my opinion) was a little lacking in earlier recordings. But Elephant King, now that is a different story. Trace's heart graces every song, with diverse textures, catchy melodies, and gorgeous harmonies.

I've seen Trace live twice now, and he puts on one of the best shows I've seen. His guitar work is incredible, and his sense of humor is sure to entertain for an evening. This is another great album and maybe someday I will understand how he does what he does.
