This album was chilling, fun and colorful! Full of great and widely known tracks such as Roygbiv, Turquoise Hexagon Sun, Aquarius and Sixtyten! I definitely recommend this album to Boards of Canada fans and newcomers to B.O.C's amazing music!

When I first heard this album on Youtube I was truly mistified by the album's eerieness and the childlike wonder that plays from this album. Great album, you won't be dissapointed by it.

A must-have for any serious lover of electronic music. Calm yet aggressive, this record is spot-on. Just buy it, ok? Or at least Roygbiv. Really though, get the whole album. It’s not meant to be listened to separated, it is rather a fluid piece that tells a story. It’s also not the sort of record that gets progressively weaker throughout the course of the track list. “Happy Cycling”, the last song on the record, is absolutely mesmerizing. The first time I heard it, I probably listened to it on loop for a full hour.

I had to purchase this album because of all the glowing reviews and listening to the samples it sounded okay. Everyone says give it time and it will agree with you. I do believe most good music does take a while due to its intricacies. Well this album didn't grow on me, in fact the more I listened the more shallow and repetitive it became. Rue the Whirl is absolutely 4 minutes too long and its a 6 minute song., it is mindlessly terrible. Half the songs are bad a few are okay. . Most songs are not very well written and really don't have much to offer other than atmosphere. I had listened o other BOC albums and there is a bit of good stuff there. They can crest an atmosphere and mood. I would advise sampling their best 8 or so songs and purchasing those. Anyway. I am amazed so many people love this, I really don't get it. If you like repetitive music that goes nowhere it would be decent as background music.
  • An Album of Self-Discovery

I was in college, the year 2000-2001 and I was browsing through some used cds at the time one of my favorite record stores. I come across, to me, a fascinating album cover. A strange vintage photo of a family circa late 1970's vacationing at a National Park except their faces are all washed. A feeling of both nostalgia and strangeness came over me examining the photo. I know you can't always judge a book by it's cover but somehow this group succeeded in making the cover of this album match to the soundscapes of nostalgia and strange they conduct. There is a childish playfulness to the music as the title of the album represents and the album leaves us with a very important thought. Every listen is like a new beginning and hinter back to days before taxes, bills, debt, hate, guilt, shame, so forth. Music doesn't just have the right to children. It has a right for everyone.
