  • Breathtaking artistry

I just returned home from attending her performance in Placitas, New Mexico 13 March 2022, a long stretch from when I first saw her perform and first obtained this album. I feel very fortunate to have seen such remarkable talent grow and develop. She will be a benchmark performer for decades to come.

I've seen Ana live and been honored to see a truly gifted guitarist in person. Consider the fact that this album is over 15 years old, and she was a teenager when she won this prize. I've compared her playing to many of the greats, and her technical playing and interpretation is rarely matched by most at the height of their career. To any who know the guitar, this is a must have. I only wish she had more recordings out there.

Ana Vidovic is a fantastic touring guitarist and has spent virtually no time in the studio other than some independent recordings with a small-time Croatian label. This was created in part as an award for her winning the Tarrega competition in Spain well before the age of 20, and it is not difficult to hear why she won. Her technique is brilliant - clean as Williams. She flies through the Ponce, plays Tarrega with some passion, but really amazes with Sulek Troubadours and Walton Bagatelles. Perfect treatment of rasqueados running headlong into squirrely runs, she gets amazing tone out of her guitar and really milks it on these tracks. Ana has said in concert Bach is her passion - and it is evident here - but Sulek and Walton are sadly underrepresented, and this does them great justice. Definitely worth the whole album, but the 2nd half is really where Ana shines.
