Reviews

  • Iconic. Quintessence from the BOSS

Bruce Springsteen : the rocker, the poet, the deep rough cut elegance he imparts ; the essence of an artist soul in its purest and most concentrated form of which I am privileged to experience on this shared timeline. We love you indeed we do.
  • Nice cover tributes to Motown, etc...

I liked this compilation of songs, and it’s grown on me with each play. It is what it is, done only as The Boss could sing them. He has earned the privilege of such an indulgence, if only for himself. Bruce sounds happy and healthy and enjoying life singing these tunes. However, I did wonder a little bit why he chose to do an album of cover songs when he has an entire vault of original songs he has never recorded yet. As for the lower ratings, there are way too many traitor trump supporter losers on this album’s review just here to rate it low only because they dislike Bruce’s politics.
  • Don’t play this ….album

Without the E Street Band to keep him focused and grounded, Bruce’s solo career has been very lackluster. This album is difficult to listen to at best. Gone are the days of “ Born to Run”.
  • A joke of an album.

It’s awful, sounds like recorded in karaoke bar
  • One song missing...

IMO there's one song missing from this set - You never can tell / C'est La Vie, A Chuck Berry tune that Bruce covered in a concert (the video is on the internet). Maybe Bruce will do another album that'll include this song?
  • Missed the mark...

Bruce needs to get sober. I thought the drunk driving charges would be enough of a wake up call but this album should also serve as one. Just awful. Maybe he should retire.

Great to hear Bruce singing the tunes that influenced his own music.
  • Weak

Why make such an anodyne compilation of muzak? Almost unlistenable, this one’s unlikely to survive.
  • Motown Karaoke by The Boss

I love Bruce Springsteen. I’ve seen him five times plus on Broadway. I love his music. I enjoy it when he does covers, and I was hoping this album would be top notch. It seems more like Motown and R&B karaoke, the kind Bruce might sing on the road in a bar. It makes you realize just how good the originals are - authentic soul, the arrangements, the back up singers, the Funk Brothers. Bless his heart for caring, but go listen to the real thing.

What a great album and tribute to soul. The Boss’s voice really excels on these tracks - truly a great compilation.
