  • Good to see Bob angry again

Those who hear the Husker Du elements in this album are right on target: from the economy of the songs to the intentionally muddy production, to the vacillation in emotion between despair and anger, Mould is channeling deeper angst on this album, and that's when he usually succeeds the most. While most songs here are fueled with acidic distaste for the political climate (NOBODY who has listened to more than three Mould songs over his 5-decade career should be surprised by this!), he is contemplative in many of the songs here, and "Forecast of Rain" is the kind of melodic work he has shown himself to be capable of, as well. His past few releases have been "rockers" (I use the term negatively, for boring 4/4 time signatures and uninteresting rhythm guitars), with little melodic sensibility or emotion. It often seemed every song was paced the same, as well. This one takes the listener on a sonic and tonal journey through the "old highs, new lows," and for that it's so much more satisfying than anything he's done in the past decade.

Post-Husker Du, Bob Mould had a habit of putting out one great record followed by a weak record, followed by a great one, and then another weak one. He finally had a string of good (not great) records around Silver Age. The string is over. Don't be fooled by the brevity and the volume, this is nothing but an incompetent imitation of Husker Du. Forget the lyrics;, the playing is tuneless and lifeless. Where Husker Du left you hoping each song was just a bit longer, here the brevity feels like mercy. He's trying to find the energy of youthful angst via hatred - and deservingly fails. Although his track record indicates he will follow this up with a good record, I can't escape the feeling that this one indicates he's caught Neil Young disease and will put out a string of comatose records.
  • He's channeling Husker!

It makes for a glorious listening experience when Bob's frustration and rage turns into an absolute hurricane.

Few things better in the world than a elder Punk Rocker still thrashing about in top fourm. Bob Mould has STILL GOT IT, this being his best album in many years. Relevant and spot on. Maybe if played at a million decibels this Country would WAKE UP !!

BOB MOULD is one of my rock Gods! Love this album, A thoughtful commentary on the current political landscape. Thank you Bob, for being our voice! (Strangely the quality of the download isn't that great. I'm buying the CD)

Love everything from Bob. I can't understand the lyrics without a sheet but that has never mattered. Unless it is my AirPods Pro, this album haas a little extra grunge fuzz in the guitar
