Reviews

  • Three months after my first review I say no.

After listening to the entire CD, I can say as a loyal purchaser of Boney's performances, this effort is lacking the "Boneyfied" sound of past productions. It seems as though many of my Smooth Jazz musicians are losing their edge/creativity. There is not one song that I will be purchasing. Sad to say that this is the first time for that to happen. Sorry Boney. Cheers. Bob R.

I absolutely love Boney James. I have seen him on several different occasions and even my boyfriend is a fan now..........and he doesn’t like jazz!! My favorite song on the new album is TONIC. So upbeat and fun to listen too. Keep doing what your doing Boney cause I can’t get enough!!!

I've been a fan for a long time. Every song on this record is amazing. They all take me away and that's really needed right now.

Been a Boney fan since I was a teenager in the SFO Bay Area. Heard him on KBLX The Quiet Storm... later heard him on the radio waking up in a hotel in Birmingham, AL (airline pilot) to Metropolis on the Trust album .... enjoyed the live FB streams, was able to catch a few minutes between flights. In my humble opinion, over the years Boney has evolved but still has the same core strength and signature stability that makes his sounds instantly recognizable, especially with the tracks Solid and Sundance. I liken it to Rod Stewart singing Maggie May back in the 70’s vs his Great American Songbook works of today - evolution but the roots still there. Thanks Boney for the new tunes to travel with me around the world! Solid indeed!
  • I wish this CD had more energy.

I feel the uptempo cuts on this CD did not have that groovy energy they needed. The only songs I really liked were "Full Effect" and "Fresh Air". The other songs sort of fizzled-out for me. They weren't really distinguishable or unique. I also felt like Boney's playing didn't have as much variety as heard on his earlier works. Still, we love you Boney, and support you - always looking forward to your new work, thank you!
  • Not so Solid. More like Soft

This album doesn’t have that spark! It’s missing something I cannot put my finger on it. It seems it’s lacking that Boney magic compared to other albums. There’s not one track that I can say is good. Sorry but not feeling it on Solid.
  • More good tracks!

I am a huge fan. The first jazz album/CD I ever owned was of Boney James. I was 16yrs old and requested it as a birthday gift. I am always listening closely for that same passion and quality that captivated me all those years ago. This album brought me back to those times. Certain tracks grabbed my attention right away while others took a few plays before I could really break them down and appreciate the notes and melodies. As for Be Here...a genius move to add the sensational voice of Mr. Lattimore to this album. Peace n luv!!!
