Tycho really came into their own with Dive and Awake, just as Chicane did with Offshore and Behind the Sun, but this is a bit of a return to the melodically aimless and experimental, b-side sounding crap from earlier years. Nothing about this album is attractive or congruent, from the absolutely putrid shade of millenial hipster red covering the album to the upbeat yet angsty and forced repetitive drone from beginning to end...this CANT be their next real album.

Musically, this album is a bit more progressive; complex tempos grab your attention with Division while Tool gets a nod during Slack. The opener, Glider, sets the pace within the first minute. This one gets better with every listen. After all, it’s Tycho!

Relaxing music but nothing overly memorable or standout.

Imagine your favorite natural phenomenon, a sunset, a breaking wave, or a bouncing bosom. Epoch is that thing happing for 43 minutes. Sometimes in slow-mo. I bought without previewing a single song, because with Tycho there's no risk of disappointment.

it doesn't really go anywhere for me. I was very much looking forward to this album and have followed Tycho as far back as 2005. Dive was the strongest of his releases in my opinion. It was sonically beatiful and there were noticeable melodies one could latch onto. While I defiinitely enjoyed the some of the changes in sound design and guitar tones it meanders and doesn't really deliver.
  • Consistently On Point

One of the artists out there that is consistent in sound, yet style has adapted accordingly with time. This album and artist is worth every penny every single time.

if you really like this stuff, you can't not check out Boards of Canada, they're basically the reason these guys exist. not knocking them down a floor, i'd just really recommend listening to a boards of canada album, The Campfire Headphase, would be the best for anyone new but you'll soon find the beauty in their music

Love this band, amazing live show. The best moment on this album in terms of feeling is "Local". The rest is kind of a "more of the same" feeling. Certainly still a good album, just nothing new.
